They were walking down the street side by side.
Avoiding to touch or hold hands.
But they both knew it was a lie.

Darkness 2
Darkness.
Silence.
Finally...
She leaned against the wall outside the building. After all the loud noise and bright lights it was good to get away from everything.
As she took a deep breath of the warm, humid air, the night started looking less dark and the silence was filled with little noises.
She saw the outlines of huge trees and heard the sounds of the tropics - frogs somewhere to her left, birds, the flapping of wings of bats rushing back and forth over her head... and now the sounds of distant waves.
So she was close to the ocean after all. The long ride to this place had left her somewhat confused.
Then she saw the light. A faint green glow not too far away from her. Should she go closer? It was hard to see if she could even walk there. She had gotten out through the backdoor and the jungle seemed to start right behind the building.

She took some steps, careful not to trip over anything - walking through the bushes in high heels was not the best idea but she didn't think it wise to wander around barefoot in the dark.
And there it was. A glowing ball lying on the forest floor. It was surprisingly big, about the size of a football. But when she lifted it up without even thinking about it, it was nearly weightless, more like a balloon. And it felt like nothing she had ever touched before, very smooth - but she couldn't determine if it was warm or cold.
As she stared at the emerald green light she felt as if she was pulled into a certain direction by the ball. She could do nothing else but walk there - like a hypnotised woman she took step after step...
Suddenly, the trees ended and she was at the beach. Her heels dug into the sand and she stopped walking.
"There you are, we've been waiting for you!" said a friendly male voice and she looked around as if she had just woken up from a dream.
In front of her she saw a gigantic thing, black against the moonless sky. It had a shape that didn't remind her of anything she knew, but it floated in the water. Was that a starship?

Darkness 1
Darkness.
All around him like heavy, black satin. And warmth... no, actually heat.... He was lying there, sweating but still feeling comfortable. The air was filled with strange fragrances. He took a deep breath.
“Sir? Hello, hello sir?”
The high pitched voice was very close to his ear.
Something pointy was poking his arm.
He opened his eyes.
It was still kind of dark, but with a reddish glow. And there, right in front of him stood a little figure.
“What the hell?!?” he shouted.
The little demon looked surprised.
“Oh, how did you know?”
Then it composed itself, stood straight and announced in its shrill voice:
“Welcome to Hell! Where we make your favourite nightmares come true. Wishing you an unpleasant stay!”
“What?”
He pushed himself up from the floor.
The demon searched his big bag, took something out and held it under his nose.
“Please sir, before you enter you need to fill in this form.”
He took something in his hand that looked more like a thick brochure.
“Fill in the form? But this has.... 127 pages? Are you kidding?”
“No sir, you have to answer all the questions. This is Hell after all!”
“And what if I refuse?”
The demon was starting to look desperate.
“Please sir, don’t make this difficult for me. It’s my first day on door duty and I am sure you have heard that my boss is not a very kind person!”
He sighed. Somehow he had the feeling that this was not going to be a pleasant day....

LALA
She was lying quietly on the sofa, eyes closed, and listened to songs about the life of the extraterrestrials.
Outside the postman put two bills and the weekly paper into her mailbox. But that didn't interest her.
Travel 2
"When will you be back?" she was shouting after him - but he had already disappeared around the corner.
Idiot, she thought by herself and hoped that it would take a while until he came back. He hardly knew the town and would certainly get lost. She giggled gleefully at the thought.

back?" she shouted after him - but he had already disappeared around
the corner.
After he had been walking through the rain for a while and changed directions at random he was looking around himself with wonder.
Even though he didn't know this town too well he suddenly had a feeling of being very far from where he had started. The buildings around him had strangely curved shapes and only few small windows.
Suddenly he realized that he hadn't met any other person for minutes. It was uncomfortably silent despite it being mid-afternoon. Even the rain seemed to fall nearly silently.

The Klad
(inspired by a typo at work)
The Klad is a friendly little animal with green skin, six legs, a big nose and a black tail. It groans.
Of course the Klad doesn't groan without a reason! In the old times on the planet Slaan it was kept as a cute pet in aquariums. Because the ancient Klad was a water creature with scales and fins.
Day in, day out those Klads swam their rounds in the aquariums of Slaan and were quite content if they were fed some cookies from time to time. The Klad is not particularly intelligent and therefore doesn't need any special entertainment. It's quite satisfied just being a Klad.
But then one day water became scarce on Slaan. This got the Slaan people in difficulties. They liked their cute Klads - but on the other hand they needed the water for themselves. So they decided to put them into the last remaining few pools.
But it soon became terribly tight in there and the Klads, used to paddling around their aquariums alone or by two, felt a little uneasy. And there were never enough cookies for all of them. So more and more of the Klads crawled on the shore to look for something edible and a little bit of quiet.
Within a short period of time their fins evolved into legs and their scales turned into skin. Of course this is not as easy as it sounds - because for a moderately gifted animal like a Klad it's quite tricky to keep six legs in order while walking! In addition it has some problems breathing air. That's why it groans.
So today the Klad wobbles through the steppes of Slaan, tries not to stumble and is happy if somebody throws it a cookie. And it groans.

ZEIT!
TIME!
The elephants were flying particularly low this day.
Katinka left the house. Just as she wanted to cross the street a small herd came sailing around the corner.
Some mothers were supporting their slightly shaky offsprings with their trunks. Instinctively Katinka lowered her head.
When they had passed she drew a deep breath of relief. It really was about time for ther to move back south!
